Scene Markers in Premiere Pro from Ambitura

Install Ambitura Link, push markers to the open Premiere sequence, or hand the cut an XML file.

Paraflex Audio

Premiere already has markers. The slow part is knowing which cuts are a new scene. Ambitura does that pass on the picture, then either pushes markers onto the open sequence or writes an XML you import.

The app is not a panel inside Premiere. You analyse in Ambitura and send the result across. The guide has the install notes. This is the sequence-side checklist.

Link, once

Help → Install Premiere Plugin in Ambitura, and follow the setup. The first time takes a few minutes because Premiere's plugin system needs a step outside Premiere. After that, the plugin talks to Ambitura on the same computer.

Open Premiere with the sequence active. Push to the open sequence. Markers land on that sequence. If the push fails, confirm the sequence is the active one and that the plugin step finished, then push again. Scene detection does not need Premiere to be open. Only the push does.

XML, when the sequence is elsewhere

Export XML and use File → Import in Premiere. Use the file when the edit is on another machine, or when you want a handoff an assistant can import without the live link.

Set the frame rate in Ambitura if the detected rate does not match the sequence, before you push or export. A mismatch shows up as markers that sit a frame or two off the cut you can see.

What the markers are describing

Each scene can carry:

  • Interior or exterior
  • Time of day: day, night, dawn, or dusk
  • A location name, from the list or one you type
  • A shot type, such as wide, close-up, or over-the-shoulder

The pass tries to ignore camera angles, shot-reverse-shots, fades, titles, and credits, so a conversation stays one scene. With Review Mode on, an uncertain boundary can show the frame before the cut and the frame after. A marker you add teaches the local learning on that computer.

Logos, titles, and end credits can be tagged on their own so they do not receive room tone. That matters if you are also matching a library, not only dropping markers.

Room tone is a separate decision

Marker push and library matching are related and they are not the same button. Matching uses folders you add in Library → Manage Libraries. The files stay on the machine. You can preview alternatives on a scene and lock the one you want. If you only needed chapter points for a long assembly, you can export markers and skip the tone.

Local analysis does not spend credits and does not upload the picture. Cloud passes are optional. Classify covers boundaries, interior or exterior, time of day, and shot type. Classify + Locate adds a location name. Full Ambiance Design also matches from your library. Solo is $20 a month, with unlimited local analysis and 100 cloud credits.

Chapters from the same grid

A CSV export is timecode and labels. That is the practical bridge from a Premiere sequence to a chapter list for a video publish, when you do not want to retype every location by hand. The timestamps still need a human check against the sequence. The grid is a first pass.
